Panel discussion at the Vienna International Centre for International Yoga Day

AyurYog team member Suzanne Newcombe was invited to participate in a panel discusison on 'Yoga, Wellness and Nutrition' to mark the International Day of Yoga at the Vienna International Centre on 21 June 2017. The event was organised by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations.

The event was introduced and moderated by Ambassador Renu Pall, who  highlighted the importance of the Yoga Day and briefed the audience about the various Yoga activities that the Mission was organizing over the week to mark the occasion. Following this, Mr. Aldo Lale-Demoz, Director for the Division for Operations and Deputy Executive Director of UNODC, made remarks on behalf of H.E. Mr. Yury Fedotov, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna. A representitive for Austria, Director General of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Teresa Indjien, also offered an introduction to the proceedings.

The fellow panelists were Dr. Leona Moerth-Nicola, Chairwoman of the Association of Ayurveda Practitioners in Austria, and Dr. Sebastian Mathew (SM), ayurvedic practitioner and biomedical doctor based in Klagenfurt.

There were more than 85 persons present, including UN officials and representatives from the diplomatic community, including the amabassadors of Nepal and Bangladesh, members of the Indian diaspora and also yoga enthusiasts.
